Michael Newman 3
Montagu Court Michael Newman holds a B.Arch degree from the College of Architecture, Art and Planning at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. His media is large-scale steel and fabric. The work is non-representational suitable for both interior and exterior placement. Michael combines long-lived materials with temporal materials. He often incorporates found objects or laser printed photographs with welded steel components. Michael performs all of his own work, not depending on apprentices. Michael's work has been shown recently at The State of the Art 2004 show in Winston-Salem, NC, juried by Larry Wheeler, Director of the N C Museum; The Fayetteville Art Museum; Meredith College, Raleigh, NC; ArtWorks Gallery, Winston-Salem, NC; Town Hall, Waynesville, NC; The College of Charleston; The SC Aquarium; and the 2004, 2005 and 2007 juried Young Contemporaries Shows at the Halsey Gallery, in Charleston, SC.Michael is a retired
architect. He has a special interest in doing commissioned pieces for both new and
existing buildings and sites. |
